Mirror Mirror by Marilyn Singer

Singer, M. (2010). Mirror mirror. New York, NY: Dutton Children's Books.

In this book the author has transformed fairy tales into poems that are able to be read from top to bottom and from bottom up. These poems still have meaning either way you read them. These fairy tales from Cinderella's Double Life, The Sleeping Beauty and the Wide-Awake Prince, and more have given a different twist to poetry and fairy tales.

If you liked this book you may also enjoy reading these books:

Singer, M. (2013). Follow follow. New York, NY: Dutton Children's Books.

Since the first book Mirror mirror was amazing a second book got created with more double takes on well-loved fairy tales such as The Little Mermaid and Thumbelina among others. Again just like the previous one you will be able to read these clever poems from top to bottom and they mean one thing. Then read them from bottom up and they mean something else.

Scheer, J. (1964). Rain makes applesauce. New York, NY: Holiday House.

This story is about silly phrases. It encourages the reader to take a second look at the beautiful illustrations. The author mentions that stars are made of lemon, wearing shoes inside out, a house walking every day along with other silly phrases. The author ends the story by reflecting on the silly phrases and admitting it's all silly talk just like rain makes applesauce.
